Kidney Failure : Dealing with it day to day issues.
I started having urinary issues in the fall/winter of 2023 after recovering from my cardiac arrest. Things like blood in my urine and foamy urine.
My PCP sent me to a urologist. My first visit was for labwork and physical. We had to establish the baseline for my status.
My labs said I was in stage 4 kidney fai;ure. It hit me like a ton of bricks. I felt helpless. They did nothing but schedule me to come back in 6 months.
6 months later they do the same thing but I come back in a year. My labs showed my status changed to stage 2.
1 yr later my labs showed stage 3b. I looked up on the internet to see what I needed to do to help my kidneys. I found recipes and info on potassium, sodium, phosphorus and protien limitions for my stage of kidney failure. They want me back in a yr again. I think I should be seen more often, like monthly.
I walk a mile every day the weather permits. I do my cardiac warm up exercises. I have my lttle indoor bike when I can't walk.
I try to eat right but it is difficult when taking prednisone. It makes me very hungry.
I have started a new routine to eat no or low protien breakfast after an overnight 16 hour fast (water only). Hopefully it will help increase GFR and lower Creatine. We will see.
I'm also using my CPAP. It is helping me get a better quality and quantity of sleep which should help my kidneys.
I am trying to drive more. Ed needs help getting to his Dr appointments.
